The Hudwit is elusive for some of us. Tuesday last week(windy, cold, 4pm) there were 5 godwits in the right spot but only a Black-tailed lifted its wings in the 45 min I was able to be there. This morning (warm, still, 7.30 am) there were none there at all in the hour I stayed. Being calm and fairly low tide I suspect they were out on the Spit. A couple of local birders assured me that it is OK for us to be there, but that not all the security guys know that!
