Subject: Brown Booby's in Victoria
Further to Craig Doolans posting about the Brown Booby Sula leucogaster near
Rotamah Island in the Gippsland Lakes eastern Victoria. It appears there
haven't been sightings of this species in Victoria for over 20 years.
An examination of the Atlas of Victorian Wildlife records shows there to be only
2 records of the species for the state. Both are from Port Phillip Bay - one
found injured near Altona in 1965 and the other above the Rip at Port Phillip
heads in July 1973. It would be interesting to hear what the Birds Australia
Atlas data reveals.
