This post seemed to get lost in the birding-aus Christmas close down, so
I thought I'd repost it.
As an update, I found a grounded partially fledged crimson rosella
[quite a bright eyed little fellow] on the way up to the Montserrat Lkt
on NYE and lifted it into the nearest available tree hollow facsimile.
Watching the setting sun on the western face of Mt Barney certainly was
a nice way to see out 1999 [the wine and cheese wasn't bad either].
My new year's present was another "lifer", courtesy of a flock of little
lorikeets at the Sherwood Arboretum.
Regards, Laurie.

Well I guess the Sunshine Coast aint within 100km of the SHB, but I had
the sort of Xmas present Tony Russell would like - a "lifer" just before
the bubbly popped for lunch on my brother's veranda: to wit, a
white-throated nightjar nesting 30 metres from the dinner table.
Happy Y2K.
Regards, Laurie.
