Hi all,
In August, someone raised the issue of the proposed east-west connector in
Mackay, Qld through the mangroves. I sent a protest email to the relevant
minister and today (!) finally got a reply. This is what it boils down
to: "Action has been taken to add new land to the Bassett Basin Fish Habitat
area and other measures will be provided to offset the impact of the loss of
mangroves. This is a very worthwhile project that will bring considerable social
and economic benefits to the Mackay community."
Is there anyone in/near Mackay that would like to comment on the
issue?
Cheers
Peter Waanders
