I thought it was great, too. Especially when you consider the time and
patience it must have taken to get the young bird's first unsteady flight
from the nest, filmed from both inside the nest box and outside with the
camera panning to follow the bird's flight. Truly memorable. And for the
first time ever I could see where the name "Glossy" comes from, with the
shine on the feathers apparent in the extreme close-ups. I really thought
it must have been a misnomer before, only having seen them from more of a
distance and in less ideal light conditions.
There are also some nice photos and an article on these birds (which I
haven't had time to read yet) in the latest Summer issue of Nature
Australia magazine.
