birding-aus RFI - Xmas trip to Victoria

Hello all,

My name is Ken Cross and I'm quite a keen birder residing in the northern
metropolis of Townsville. This xmas period I'm travelling south to Melbourne
[on the 18th Dec to be exact]. I would appreciate any or all suggestions for
birding sites in and around Melbourne. I've done very little birding in
southern Australia except for a few weeks in Tassie so one could guess
probable target species. I would be particularly interested in company for
birding, particularly to Werribee where i believe some local assistance [or
permission] is required.
Finally is there any pelagic birding opportunities from Victoria in the
first fortnight of the new [pretend] Millennium?
