While on a weekend walk through Lamington I had the fortune to see a juvenile cuckoo being tended by its "parents". It was interesting to watch a pair of white-browed scrub wrens feeding their robin-sized "offspring" [like watching humans feed an elephant]. Slaters isn't the best guide to identify juvenile cuckoos [got to save weight to compensate for the bottle of red wine in the pack], but I suspect it was a fan-tailed cuckoo as those are the most common suspects in SE Qld rainforests. The other interesting development in the Green Mts car park was the way the wonga pigeons were walking around, and the regent bowerbirds were hanging around, people with food. Regards, Laurie.
