Today at Ricketts Point, Beaumaris (coastal SE Melbourne) there was a Grey Plover (the first recorded in the Bayside City area), 2 Red-capped Plovers and 11 (12?) Red-necked Stints. We record a few waders each year, particularly at Ricketts Point. There is currently a stouch about proposals to control dogs in the area and I was getting worried that so few waders have been seen this year. So I went out at dawn. The Grey Plover was already there and the other birds arrived later with all three species still present at 1 pm ! Michael Norris Hampton, Vic.
