As Alan and Edwin pointed out "there have been no previous records for Wandering Whistle Ducks in the Sydney Region." This species is, as they and many others would be aware, regular in the wetlands of the Shortland area of Newcastle. There are breeding records for this area. Am rather surprised that this species haven't made a short visit to the wetlands of western Sydney before now as it's not that far. Maybe they have. Mind you, given the number of birdwatchers that visit these locations the chances of them being seen would be fairly high.
