While Lawrie Conole and I were charging around in NW Victoria looking for
interesting honeyeaters, we spotted something we weren't expecting: Mike
Carter! He joined us for a walk around Goschen, and asked me to pass on
this info to birding-aus:

A Channel-billed Cuckoo has appeared in a suburban garden in Mt Eliza, a
suburb in the SE of Melbourne. It has been there a couple of days. Mike
saw it on Saturday morning.
I don't have a phone number for the house where it is, but I'm sure if you
ring around the Melbourne people (e.g. Birds Australia or BOCA) you'll get
more info. Mike is still up in the NW so I won;t pass on his number.
You could probably find it by driving around Mt Eliza and sticking your
head out the window every few blocks!
