1. Not really bird related, but tomorrow in Sydney, at 12 noon, at 157
Liverpool St., opposite Hyde Park, there's a demonstration against
animal experimentation. It'd be great if any of you could get there.
2. Tonight on the ABC, there's the show 'Island of the Vampire Birds' -
seems interesting. I think somebody has already plugged this, I'm just
reminding you all.
3. I apologise for my spelling errors in yesterday's north coast trip
report. I was rushing.
4. In a new Steve Parish book on rainforests or birds (I can't recall
the exact title) there's a fantastic photo of a beautiful Elegant
Imperial Pigeon by Raoul Slater. A gorgeous creature.
5. David Hollands, author of 'Birds of the Night' (circa 1991) and an
earlier raptor book, has just released a hardback volume entitled
'Kingfishers - Jewels of the Australian Bush'. He's teamed up with John
Young again to get the info., locations and vantage points for decent
photographs. It's a decent book, with tremendous photos of Yellow-billed
Kingfishers, a bird I'd love to see. $40, in your local bookstore
hopefully.
Peace and rewarding birding,
Lorne.
