Hello all,

Just a quick report of our SUNBOC outing Sunday 10. Total of 18 on the trip
including five visitors from the south!

We visited five sites as listed below with short list and notes when
appropriate.

1. Nowingi south just west of rail line. 34°40'15" 142°14'15" about 30
minutes 11spp
Budgies, say 25 (seen at every site)
Woodswallows Masked and White-browed lots of each mostly flying.
Little Eagle 1
Yellow-rumped Pardalote
Pink Cockatoo, just one
Brown treecreeper, not common in dry mallee country

2. Under the Pylons a bit further west 34°40'42" 142°14'06" about 3 hours
28spp
Black Kite, they are everywhere this year including along the river.
Mulga parrot, one pr, only sighting for the day.
Peregrine pair, one on nest in pylon
Horsfield's B/C, 2 together, only sighting for the day
Hooded Robin several in group including young, only sighting for the day
Crimson Chat,
Red-capped Robin
Splendid Fairy-wren

3. Under pylons near Hattah 34°43'59" 142°15'17" about 90 min, 10 spp,
here to look for the Grey Falcons reported as 'possible' by Penny
Drake-Brockman and others.
Wedge-tailed Eagle at nest
Red-backed Kingfisher
Hobby
Crimson Chat
Masked Lapwing
Peregrine at nest in pylon
Woodswallows
and, not seen by all observers, a pair of what were thought to be Grey Falcons
which were heard and seen within 100m or so for a short time before they
quickly headed high and east- probably about 90% certain but none of the six
observers will stake their reputation on it! "It couldn't be anything else" is
not quite good enough!- another visit is obviously needed!

4. Nowingi track 34°41'38" 142°16'17" 40 min 6spp (only 14 observers at
this stage!)
Mallee Emu-wren heard and chased but not seen.

5. Castles Crossing Reserve 34°29'46" 142°12'11" 20min 20spp
White-winged Triller on nest
Blue Bonnet
Crinson Chats
Rainbow Bee-eaters
Woodswallows with Dusky as well this time.

Birding is still good. Quite a few groups of Cockateil were seen in Transit
but no Pied or Black H's
