Birding Ausers
Don't you just love this time of the year? Isn't it nice to be woken at
4:30 am by the Brown Honeyeaters and Rainbow Lorikeets screaming at each
other as they compete in the Callistemon outside the bedroom window and then
kept awake by the Noisy Friarbirds as they arrive a little later and are met
by the remaining Red Wattlebirds? What about the Scarlet Honeyeaters
feeding in the trees across the road?
Then there are the Torresian Crows and the Pied Currawongs and the odd Pied
Butcherbird as well as the myriads of Starlings, Sparrows and Mynahs. Have
you noticed how loud Yellow-rumped Thornbills and Silvereyes are when you
are suffering from sleep-deprivation? The Koels haven't even started yet.
That is really something to look forward to. The Magpie Larks are bound to
be here soon. Such fun! And then there are all those Superb Blue Wrens
screaming around the garden.
I couldn't even drive the car into the garage the other day. A White-faced
Heron was standing on the concrete driveway and wouldn't move. At least it
was quiet.
If all this keeps up, I'll have to move from the suburbs to the bush to get
away from the birds.
