Litle Eagle over Scotch College is certainly unusual, but not impossible. Several years ago I saw a Little Eagle proceeding westward from the city over Royal Park - it was set upon by a pair of Hobbies who gave it hell until it vanished over the Zoo in great disorder at rooftop height. Further out, I have seen them over Mt Cooper (Bundoora). I have also seen Whistling Kites over Kew and at Burke Rd Bridge. Back in the 50s a man called Alan Bell used to contribute nature notes to the Age Literary Supplement - he once wrote of a dull test match at the MCG, where he idly turned his binocs skyward and picked up a Wedgetail passing over at great height! His subsequent list of test match birds included a number of unexpected species. Wish I could track it down.
