With the posting of each pelagic comment of late, my heart and enthusiasm sinks deeper and deeper.  Down here at Eden on the NSW Far South Coast I have been promoting pelagic trips as Secretary of the Far South Coast Birdwatchers.  We are a three year old club and arrange the trips on a regular basis at no gain to ourselves, but as a service to bird enthusiasts who are either unable to schedule a trip from other ports or wish to see what exists between Wollongong (NSW) and Portland (Vic).  A myth that Eden is "no good for pelagics" also apparently existed...what a challenge to prove otherwise!  We have now had 16 trips, none cancelled, have an impressive (I think) list of species, provide a great day for many overseas and interstate, city and country observers and have kept the cost to $50.  The "did not show" people cause hardship but fortunately these are few.  The extra trips run closer to the city in recent months are perhaps also hurting us and I now make a plea for your assistance.  For some reason our trip on Sunday October 17 has 6 vacancies.  (Nov 21 has two)  Is there anyone out there who has been thinking of coming this way.......if so now is the time.  A species list will be supplied if needed, accommodation details, (inexpensive or dearer,) and any other help with locating specific land species.  We need you!  Barbara Jones.
