John A few years ago, I lived at Gatton, in the Lockyer Valley, about 80 km west of Brisbane. Nearby was a State Forest. A poor example of original forest but still a good birding place between the trail bikes, orienteerers, horse riders and 4WDs. In one area of the forest, Superb, Variegated and Red-backed Fairy-wrens co-existed. At times they would be feeding in the same small area with all three species visible at the same time.
