The South Australian Ornithological Association held its Sept end of month
outing at Morgan on the River Murray today Sunday 26/9/99.
The weather was warm and sunny and was attended by 12 members from SAOA and
two Victorian visitors from BAYBOCA, Peter and Betty Bates.
Two locations were surveyed within Morgan Conservation Park which is part
of river flood plain in the area, although the land at present is very
dry.The area contains many large old eucalypts which have great numbers of
nesting hollows being used by Tree Martins  and various parrot spp.
1) 9.00 - 11.30am at 34 02 01s, 139 40 50e.

We then moved to an even drier area ca 3km West of Morgan and surveyed from
14.00 - 15.30pm amidst large numbers of flowering Erimophila centred on 
34 02 38s, 139 36 00e.

Following a report from another member the previous week it was at (or
near) this last location that we had expected to find Black and Pied
Honeyeaters, but even though the Erimophilas were flowering quite heavily,
they were not there this weekend.
