Wasn't much of a game was it!
I flicked to the Netball, now that WAS exciting. At least The Bill is on
tonight.
The day started well though with a Shining Bronze Cuckoo ( plagosus), a
Long-toed Stint, and a Baillon's Crake, all at Greenfields Wetlands. The
Cuckoo was calling at very long intervals and took ages to find even though
it was only 12ft above us. Then it just sat and sat and sat, and was still
sitting there when we left, excellent views once you knew where the pesky
thing was. It's probably still there. A tick for three of my companions.
Off to Morgan tomorrow where Bob Sothman reported Black and Pied
Honeyeaters last weekend - full report will follow. Might get a Redthroat too.
We've been getting some unusual reports (for SA )of Bush Stone Curlews
recently in places they haven't been seen for years. Apart from Kangaroo
Island we don't expect to see them any more in SA, but one was seen at
Ferries McDonald CP* by someone on a stake out for Malleefowl at the well
known mound, and another at Brookfield CP**. Prior to this the only others
in SA seem to be those around the cemetery at Bordertown in the SE, and
those at Bangham CP just south of there.
Cheers people.
Tony.

There's nothing quite like the feeling of seeing a new bird is there?
