I've heard remarkably little here about the 1999 Twitchathon so far.
Khalid from the Melbourne office of BA has sent out all the paperwork to
existing Vic teams, and I've seen all the details of other state
organisations in the last copy of "Wingspan".
Now's the time to get involved. If you haven't raced before there's
still plenty of time to scout a new route - the event is on 30-31
October 1999. It's a lot of fun, a good test of how well you know your
patch, and best of all it raises quite a bit of cash for bird
conservation. I seem to recall that the 1998 Victorian Twitchathon
raised about $6000 for birds of box-ironbark forests, and my team member
Stuart Dashper gave a summary to the list a few months back of where
some of that money had been directed.
Interested Victorian racers should contact Khalid Al-Dabbagh at BA's
Melbourne office or <>. Contact your local BA
group in other parts of Australia for further information.
You could also have a look at my team's home page (the Common
Driving-Petrolheads):

Join in the 1999 Twitchathon - either as a racer or a sponsor. We won
the Vic race last year, but we're expecting plenty of challengers to be
after us this year. Current indications are that it could be a year
for B I G totals - there are lots of migrants around, heaps of
waterbirds, etc......
