Recently, Black & Pied Honeyeaters were reported at Mildura by Barry McLean and at Hattah by Penny Drake-Brockman. Last Sunday, Black & Pieds were also at Morgan, SA in exactly the same spot I saw them several years ago. It is currently pretty dry around Morgan but the Eremophlia is flowering. There were 2 Black & 20 Pied, along with one Redthroat 2km West of Morgan (34 02 62 139 38 34). None of the other inland migrants (chats, songlarks or trillers) were down. There were also 6 Appostlebirds about 17 km West of Morgan ( 33 56 24 139 28 63). This is the furthest West I have seen them. Another good bird was one Freckled duck at Tanunda Ponds (34 32 28 138 56 34) in the Barossa Valley along with Pink-eared, Shovelers, Hardhead, Grey & Chestnut Teal and Black Duck.
