Hunter Bird Observers Club today did its monthly survey of waders in the Hunter River estuary (Newcastle, NSW). Things had been quite for the past several months, with some over-wintering birds around but only in limited numbers. Things were much more interesting this month. Most waders have returned, although there are still a few gaps. Complete wader list (migratory and otherwise) for today was: Bar-tailed Godwit Black-tailed Godwit Eastern Curlew Common Greenshank Red-necked Stint Sharp-tailed Sandpiper Curlew Sandpiper Black-winged Stilt Red-necked Avocet Pacific Golden Plover Red-capped Plover Black-fronted Dotterel Masked Lapwing Alan Stuart To unsubscribe from this list, please send a message to Include ONLY "unsubscribe birding-aus" in the message body (without the quotes) |
