Hi netters.

We visited a little known area called Yankallila Gorge, private land some
5km south of Normanville in South Aust. The property itself wasn't expected
to produce too much by way of birds, but in three - four hours we were able

Some other interesting recent occurrences:
Waders overwintering at Penrice on 4/8 included 9 Eastern Curlews, 2 Curlew
Sandpipers, 10 Bar-tailed Godwits, and thousands of Red-necked Stints in
association with hundreds of Red-capped Plovers.
There are a pair of Sharp-tailed Sandpipers at Greenfields Wetland ( per
John Cox) just north of Adelaide.
There are lots of Aust Shovelers in the Adelaide and Riverland areas at the
present time, most wetlands seem to have them.( also, See P. Waanders note
of 17/8 re Harts Lagoon at Waikerie)
Also on 4/8 there was a Barn Owl roosting in a bush on the LHS half way
between the barrage and the final boat ramp at Goolwa. On the same day a
Diamond Firetail was seen on the road outside Monarto CP.
Happy Birding. Tony.
