Dear Syd and others,
Yes, I normally draft long e-mails on the word processor, spell-check them,
and then cut and paste them to Eudora. But on Saturday I was just raving
striaght into Eudora, so that my typing went to pieces. Also I didn't have
the time to correct everything, and if I'd had just a little more time I'd
have added this quote from John Aubrey (C17):
'I have not had time to polish, but I think the matter will commend itself'.
I know that EudoraPro has a spell-checker, but Scrooge here wants a FREE
e-mail program with a spell-checker (I use the freeware EudoraLight). Last
time I looked at Tucows (freeware/shareware archive, http://www.tucows.com,
click on PC and whatever OS you have, then follows the link to 'mail
utilities') I think there was a a program called Pegasus which had a
spell-checker, but I haven't had time to download it and fiddle with it.
I have an old computer and I know I could use Netscape products (indeed in
older versions the e-mail was packaged with the browser), but in the later
versions the program has got so big and unwieldy that it seems to take
about a week to open just the broswer, and I don't have the patience to try
this with the Communicator.
[By the way a friend has shown me a neat little broswer (Mac only at the
moment), which is less than 1Mb, opens in a flash, has options to suppress
pop-ups and banners, and, once in a PC version, I imagine, will just take
over, can't remember the name unfortunately].
