Dear all,

I followed with great interest the recent discussions about Zosterops
chloris and the Double-collared Sunbirds as I saw several species/races of
these birds in Indonesia and Kenya and was also a bit confused.

About Australian birds, I'm still confused about some ssp such as:

Fan-tailed Cuckoo around Perth. Is it Cacomantis flabelliformis
flabelliformis or prionurus?

Large-tailed Nightjar around Darwin. Is it Caprimulgus macrurus schlegelii
or yorki?

Australian Swiflet in Daintree. Is it Collocalia spodiogygius terraereginae
or terraereginae chillagoensis?

Azure Kingfisher in Daintree. Is it Alcedo azurea mixta or azurea?

I went through Howard and Moore and some recent Helm/Pica Press general
monographs (Nightjars, Swifts, Kingfishers), but they do not agree between
them and I still wonder who is right.

I'd be very happy to get some comments from Australian birders.

Cheers

Daniel Philippe
