Like Trevor Ford and Jill Dening, we also spent Saturday surveying 3
wader roosts at Deception Bay.

Nothing much of interest at two of them, but the first site in the fish
habitat reserve on South Esplanade held 608 Black-winged Stilt (quite a
number of juveniles) and 310 Red-necked Avocet (8 juvenile).  The return
of such a large number of Avocets was wonderful to see.  The best record
we have recorded at this site was 384 in November 1995.

Anyone wanting to see them on the low tide can view them on the mudflats
at the end of Webster Road, South Esplanade.

Looking forward to the count sheets from Jill and Trevor.
