Dear Ozbirders

while Rod and Edwin were comfortably perched on Magic Pt, I was at sea with
Carl Loves out of Wollongong on a SOSSA banding foray.

We recorded a rather similar species spectrum without the Northern Royal
and Southern Fulmar. We saw Hutton's and Fluttering Shearwater in roughly
equal ratio and the Wandering" Albatross were all Gibson's.

Our rarities for the day were Kerguelen Petrel (1) and an intermediate
phase South Polar Skua (1).

I obtained photographs of the latter so I will be able to send it off for
appraisal by others. The former, I am sad to say, will remain a dodgy
rumour! :)

cheers
Milburn
