It would appear that no chat-liners watched Foreign Correspondent last week when a 30 minute segment listed horrifying details of the sell-out of PNG forests to foreign (Malayasian) logging companys. It seems the legacy of the Skate government will be reflected in the logging of 10 times the areas of forests that were originally agreed to - and there has not been a whimper from anyone! The fact that the World Bank had stopped propping-up the government because of its logging policy, amongst other abuses and mismanagement, with the result that the contracts were renegotiated with this huge increase in areas - all on tribal lands - which have been, in most cases, ignored or brushed aside. Does anyone have more pertinent info re all of this?
