Seawatching doesn't come any better than the last week in Sydney with even
more amazing records.  Highlights in NSW (excluding the pelagic trip records
already posted) over the last week or so are as follows:

WANDERING ALBATROSS     peak count 4 Maroubra, Sydney 14/7
SHY ALBATROSS   peak count 6 Maroubra, Sydney 15/7
BLACK-BROWED ALBATROSS  peak count 160 Maroubra, Sydney 14/7
YELLOW-NOSED ALBATROSS  peak count 15 Maroubra, Sydney 14/7
SOUTHERN FULMAR 1 Long Reef, Sydney 16/7, 2 Maroubra, Sydney 14/7 and 1 on
15/7, 16/7 and 17/7
ANTARCTIC PRION 2 found alive in Killarney Vale and 1 in Lake Haven 14/7 -
both central coast
BLUE PETREL             1 Long Reef, Sydney 9/7, 13/7 and 16/7 and 1 taken
to Taronga Zoo where it died
KERGUELAN PETREL        1 Long Reef, Sydney 13/7
WHITE-HEADED PETREL     1 found alive inland at Peakhurst, Sydney last week
and 1 Maroubra 15/7
GIANT PETREL    peak count 80 Maroubra, Sydney 15/7 including 18 Northern,
24 Southern and 4 white phase
SOUTHERN GIANT PETREL   1 imm found ashore Umina, Central Coast 15/7
CAPE PETREL             peak counts 107 14/7 and 140 15/7 Maroubra, Sydney
WEDGE-TAILED SHEARWATER 1 Maroubra, sydney 12/7 - out of season record  
YELLOW-BILLED SPOONBILL 1 Mason Park, Strathfield 10/7
FRECKLED DUCK   1 Bushell's Lagoon, Windsor 9/7
GREY GOSHAWK    1 Lees Reserve, Chittaway, Central Coast 13/7
BROWN QUAIL             4 North Head, Sydney 15/7
ARCTIC SKUA             1 Maroubra, Sydney 15/7 - out of season record
TOPKNOT PIGEON  widespread in Northern Sydney with up to 150 daily in
central Chatswood (corner Victoria and Archer Streets) daily in camphor
laurel trees
MUSK LORIKEET   flock Oatley park, Sydney for several weeks
BLACK-EARED CUCKOO      1 Wittenborough SF, between Coonabarabran and
Barradine 8/7
BARKING OWL             2 west of Armidale 3/7 - male was found dead a year
ago and so female has found new mate
