Hi all

Can anyone shed any more light on a report in yesterday's Herald Sun
(14-7-99) that described a beachwashed Fiordland Penguin being found on a
beach "near Cape Otway"? Apparently the bird was found by a motorist
(i.e. someone 4WDing on the beach possibly?) and it was reported to NRE
who took the bird into "care". It died soon after, and was reckoned to
have been of too low a weight to guarantee survival. The report also said
the same species washed up near here in 1996. True or false?
