Hello all,
just a short note for those in/around Geelong (Victoria).
Noticed two Banded Plover in a freshly ploughed paddock yesterday in
Fyansford (suburb in Geelong). Two things.
1. I was under the impression that Banded Plover like low stubble/grass.
The paddock they were in was bare earth.
2. The paddock was on the corner of the Ballan Rd and Hamilton H/way. Any
previous records in this vicinity? The pair were still there today for
those interested for a look.

Is it just me, or are there a large number of Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos
and Gang Gang's in and around Geelong at the moment? Counted 79 YTB at
Kardinia Park last Friday in pine trees, & 83 flying over Collendina last
Sunday. Two Pine tress have been literally striped of all cones, and most
vegetation, at Kardinia Park by large numbers of Gang Gangs. Groups vary in
size from pairs to 18 birds.

Cheers,
Richard Dilena
