Hello All
In the face of some particularly inclement
weather, I proceeded on my trip to Murringo Gap, just off the Young-Cowra road,
in search of the White-browed Babbler. I unfortunately didn't get to Jindalee
SF.In spite of the weather, I saw quite a few birds - I particularly enjoyed
returning to this spot - a birding spot I haven't been to since I left Young 10
years ago. Back then I use to have to nag my Dad to take me, so it was good to
return to perhaps the first place I really started
birdwatching!
On the side of the hill, I found a pair of
Hooded Robins, and a couple of pairs of Red-capped
Robins. There were plenty of White-plumed Honeyeaters,
and the usual assortment of small birds including a few
Southern Whiteface.
I found the White-browed Babblers just as I
remembered them, a group of about a dozen or so - it only took me about 10
minutes of searching. There were plenty of roosting nests around as well. The
weather stopped me hanging around for too long, so I didn't get to watch these
birds for too long. The only other birds of note were a few Brown
Treecreepers. So that was it - not a very eventful trip by many
standards, but I achieved my goal, so I suppose thats what counts.
I look forward to going back in spring to see
the Superb Parrots, and Gilberts Whistlers!
