Hello Anne,

Yes I agree! I was and am always happy for people to come and tell me about
the birds they've seen (non birdwatchers) but I've lost track of the number
of people who have told me about the red finches that come into their
backyards which turn out to be Red-backed Fairy-wrens!

Still, some interest is far far better than no interest at all!

I also think the ID idea is a good idea. Of course it could also be extended
to more difficult to identify birds becoming more of a web page field guide,
better than a book one in one way- it could be updated and modified through
comments from users.
