I can't believe they've re-issued this CD! I only hope they completely
rehashed the interface and added some better images.

I have the previous version, and as John Leonard points out the sound
files are conveniently in .wav format and all located in a directory
called 'SONGS'. I don't have a cd-rom on my old workhouse PC and the
runtime of Toolbook which powers the 'program' doesn't work on my Mac, but
I can still get the sound files, text files and images. I've built up
handy desktop Playlists of similar species / calls - great for learning
groups etc while I sit waiting for the printer to do its job. The few
occasions I've taken the CD to a PC I've been frustrated and wonderedwhy
I've bothered. My main gripes are

Images - just copies of some of the artwork from the book - I'd doubt many
people would buy the CD-ROM who don't already have this - I might be
wrong though. Some photos would have been nice, even if it pushed the
price a little higher.

Movies - waste of space - why couldn't they replace them with a couple of
movie clips of BIRDS??

Interface - clunky and far from intuitive. Toolbook is fairly basic, but
a novice could do better than this with it.

Is the new version any better in these areas? I wouldn't mind getting the
extra birdsong that the new CD offers, but maybe I'll wait for a better
CD-ROM????
