People may find the book "The pyhsiology and history of lerps in
Southern and Central America" a good read. All six volumes are
fascinating. It was written by Nathan Fleadance PhD, University of Ohio.
He also wrote, 'A guide to the fleas of California', 'Grasshoppers, a
feminist perspective', and 'Lace bugs just want to be loved'.
Volume II of 'The physiology...' details lerp memory and psychological
problems/stress. It is stirring and informative. His comparisons with
'stress' in aphids is particularly enlightening.
Volume VI examines the future for lerps and whether they can be trained
by humans to become useful companions and friends. Are they more than
mere dots on leaves??????? Fleadance believes so.
A turning point in animal literature!!!!!!! Read it now. Dymock's in
George St., Sydney, has most of Fleadance's work.
Cheers,
LORNE.
