Birds Australia is expanding its research and conservation program.
We are seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and
experienced people who would like to work with us to help protect birds,
habitat and biodiversity in the Australasian region. A wide range of
projects is currently being developed, so people with a variety of skills
are needed.
ESSENTIAL
- at least two years? professional experience and/or high-level tertiary
qualifications in a relevant field of expertise eg zoology, biology,
environmental science
- strong interpersonal and communication skills
DESIRABLE
- interest in birds and conservation
LOCATION
Projects may be Australasia-wide

ABOUT BIRDS AUSTRALIA
Birds Australia, formerly known as the Royal Australasian Ornithologists
Union, is Australia?s internationally-recognised ornithological
organisation.
For nearly 100 years, the not-for-profit organisation has been working
pro-actively to conserve and protect birds, their habitats and biodiversity
within the Australasian region. Birds Australia is Australia?s largest
non-government scientific body concerned with Australia?s wildlife. It is
also the Australian partner of BirdLife International, a global partnershp
of conservation organisations working together to conserve all bird species
and their habitats.
Birds Australia conducts high quality research and conservation-related
projects that fill in the gaps of our knowledge about birds and take direct
action to prevent population decline and habitat loss.
Projects are wide-ranging and include nationwide surveys, threatened
species recovery plans and publication of authoritative ornithological
reference works. At present, Birds Australia conducts approximately 30
projects each year, though this is now increasing. It employees 60 people,
based around Australia.
Birds Australia?s national office is in Melbourne, with regional offices in
Sydney and Perth. It has six regional groups and four special interest
groups that focus on regional issues and the particular needs of certain
groups of birds, respectively.
