Hi everyone,

Amazing to see the numbers of Swift parrots in NE Victoria at
the moment. Before anyone hails a miraculous recovery of the
population, I must add that very few, and often no Swift
Parrots are at their 1998 haunts in the Bendigo or Maryborough
areas. The amazing thing about box-ironbark forests is their
great variability in flowering, and this variation is responded
to in the distribution of the parrots.

I will be away until the 14th, looking for Swift parrots on the
western slopes and collecting habitat data. If there are
queries regarding the surveys, please call 03 5430 4444 to
leave a message with reception or 54304357 to leave a message
with my voicemail. I will ring reception every few days to
check for messages.

Thanks,

Simon Kennedy- Swift Parrot Project Officer
