Hi ... At a meeting tonight about other matters I was asked where all the
birds went during the recent Sydney hailstorm and why were there no
corpses. I am not sure ... any ideas?

I often wonder the same thing. We hade a severe hail storm here in Brisbane
last December and houses and cars took a battering - $6000 damage to my
wife's Mazda. The next morning all of the local birds where hanging about
as usual including our local family of Superb Fairy-wrens; all intact.
Once again no dead birds on the ground or any damaged ones wandering
around. I suspect they must shelter in thicker foliage but this cops a
battering also.
Cheers
