A small note in todays edition of the Melbourne Age newspaper. The Southern Cassowary Casuarius casuarius is to be listed as a threatened taxon in Australia. Reasons cited are its low population size of 1100 to 1500 individuals. No further deatils to hand at the moment. Has anyone seen more detail or have personal experience of Cassowary status?
