Eden Pelagic Trip Report Sunday 21 March 1999

A quiet day but no-one disappointed, the dolphins providing a high spot with their performance.
 
Departed 8am.  Returned 4.30pm.  Went out to 23 miles. 
Seas 1/2 metre with 1m swell.  Winds light.  Sky clear. 
Water temp. 23.5 degrees C.  Air temp. 26 degreees C.
 
On board:
Eric Andrew, David Webb, Phil Maher, Tom Wheller, Steve Seymour, Steve Davidson, Eric Rice, Sandi Rice, Wallace Weaving, Natalie Weaving, Fiona Johnson and skipper John Henry. 
 
Species observed: Total with maximum at one time bracketed.  
 
Little Penguin  2 (1)
Great-winged Petrel  25 (8)
Wedge-tailed Shearwater  30 (12)
Flesh-footed Shearwater  15 (6) 
Short-tailed Shearwater 10 (2) 
Wandering Albatross 1 
Wilson's Storm Petrel  2 (1) 
Australasian Gannet  8 (2) 
Brown Booby 1 
Black-faced Cormorant  60 (60) 
White-faced Heron  2 (2)
Pomarine Jaeger  3 (1) 
Arctic Jaeger  1
Crested Tern  27 (16) 
 
 
Whistling Kite 1
Nankeen Kestrel  1 (12 miles out!)
 
Plus 200 Bottle-nosed Dolphin,  30 Common Dolphin,  1 Sun Fish,  2 Marlin.
