Hi Carol
The information that you provided from the Blue Mountains is the type of
information that is required for the NSW Annual Bird Report. I would
like to include the highlights from the Blue Mountains in the Bird
Report but it is necessary to have the name of the observer!. Could you
in future include the observer's name in your list. If you are able to
summarise the highlights for 1997 and 1998 I would appreciate that too!.
A word of warning though about Letter-winged kites. People who have not
had not much experience identifying birds, sometimes incorrectly
identify Black-shouldered Kites as Letter-winged Kites. Would you say
the observers were competent observers? Have they seen Letter-winged
Kites before?
Spotted Bowerbirds occur naturally in NSW east to Yetman, Bingara,
Baradine, Pibbon, Nyngan, Condobolin, Gunbar and Moulamein. The
Springwood birds, like the Tuggerah Bird that only last 2 years, are
most likely avairy escapees-there was even one at Arakoon near Crescent
Head a few years ago.
