birding-aus Received a call from ABC Radio (Townsville) regarding an article in the weekend's press. The article cites a New Zealand study which found that songbirds around towns and cities are losing their tunes as increasingly heavy traffic noise is making them tone deaf. The study reflects one undertaken in Britain which showed that birds near busy roads had problems attracting mates and defending territories. The ABC would like to know if any similar study had been done on bird song in North Queensland or in Australia generally. Reply direct.
