Thanks, Tom and Paul, for bringing the SIPO/OZPO comparison (South Island
Pied Oystercatcher Haematopus finschii / Australian Pied Oystercatcher
H. longirostris) to the birding masses - well at least, birding
aussers! Thanks also to Bo Totterman and Greg Clancy for reporting the bird
initially.

The photos are valuable in enhancing ID of these two closely related
species. For those interested, further reading:
