Hi Karen, I'm not trying to upstage you but, can I share in your
excitement also?

I was giving the plants a drink a couple of nights ago when in flew 2
parent frogmouths with their 2 chicks. They settled happily on the limb
of an ironbark . Seconds later they were joined by another 2 adults
which caused the local birdlife to protest strongly.
What a fantastic sight - to see these night birds silently flying from
tree to tree. A couple of adults perched on lower branches and I had a
great close-up view. How beautiful they are, (it was still light enough
to see them clearly) and they were not at all concerned when I walked
slowly towards them. Magnificent eyes and markings. The chicks
were in good condition and obviously training to be vocal by the sounds
they were making.

I live in Eltham and unlike other developed areas in the district, I am
fortunate in retaining remnant native vegetation as do neighbouring
properties - great Owl habitat.

I can recommend Owl viewing as the best therapy to have after a stressful
day at the office. Nothing else needed.

cheers to all birdlovers
