How about some sort of reward system for the number of "new people" (especially children) who correctly identify birds for themselves and/or those birds being worth more points if there is an element of competition to the day? Birders competitive...never... People could be encouraged to form informal groups to practice, until the nominated "Birding-aus Day". Incidentally, is their really a National Bird Count scheduled for 7am New Year's Day next year? Victoria Quinton http://www.alphalink.com.au/~mermaid |
