Stuart from your description the wader on Frankston beach sounds to me like a Grey-tailed Tattler. Common Sandpiper is possible but these have shorter legs than you describe, have an obvious white wing bar, and teeter when disturbed. Is it still about? You should point it in the direction of Mud Islands - it would be happier there. Peter Menkhorst |
