G'day all The local birders in Hamilton have been treated to a Koel over the weekend! The bird was calling along the Grange Burn (our town stream) on Saturday evening by myself and then on Sunday morning by myself and Rob Drummond. This morning it was in Murray Gunn's house and Murray managed to see it. Hamilton is some 300km west of Melbourne and is probably 800-1000km from the Koel's normal range. Have there been any other Koel sightings in Victoria this spring? This sighting easily beats the Brush Cuckoo of a few weeks ago.
