Dear Birding Aus
Yesterday, though a very hot and windy day in the Hawkesbury, myself and
Bill Kleh from London still enjoyed the days birding. Highlights were as
follows:
MITCHELL PARK - Australias largest Diurnal and Nocturnal Raptors, a
Wedge-tailed Eagle and a pair of Powerful Owls, excellent views of a male
Ciacadabird and pair of Satin Flycatchers etc etc. Suprisingly I could not
see or hear the many Scarlet Honeyeaters that were there 2 weeks ago,
despite the paperbarks in still good flower. A Little (White-bellied)
Cuckoo-shrike was heard also.
MARAYLYA - Pacific Baza still incubating eggs on nest
BUSHELLS LAGOON (near Wilberforce) - Sharp-tailed and Marsh Sandpipers,
Red-necked Stint and Greenshank. Conditions at this lagoon seems to be
fairly good for waders at the moment.
CHAIN OF PONDS RESERVE (Stannix Park Rd, Ebeneezer)- Brush Cuckoo, Striated
Pardalotes and possibly also Azure Kingfishers nesting.
