Apologies, etc. I got my small "wattle-less" wattlebirds the wrong way around. When I enter the wrong one into my BirdInfo database (as I ocasionally do), it makes the correction for me, so I still haven't learnt ;-) The names Brush Wattlebird and Little Wattlebird have been used interchangeably for so many years for both populations; further reinforcing the general lack of worth of many vernacular names (at the risk of starting that thread again ....). I suggest: 1. Western Banksia-bird 2. Eastern Banksia-bird Then I'll only need to remember which state I'm in to get the name right. Thanks .........
