The Birds Australia Annual Twitchathon will be begin at 3 PM (standard
time), Sat., 24 October 1998 and end at 4 PM (daylight saving time), Sun.,
25 Oct. 1998 at BA HQ, 415 Riversdale Rd., East Hawthorn. I quote the
following from Hugo Phillips.

If you are new to birding, or a keen twitcher this is a good way to support
bird conservation while having a great time. Regional Groups will be
taking over all aspects of the Twitchathon this year, with each Regional
Group (or other willing body) choosing their own species or program to
support. If you can help with the organisation, the publicity, prizes,
issuing of receipts once money is collected or the many other tasks
involved in running a successful fundraiser, please contact your state
organiser. If you are entering a team this year, or want more information,
Twitchathon kits and event details are available from :
Victoria: Khalid Al-Dabbagh,
tel: (03) 9882 2622, email: <>

Khalid would like me to add that the entrance cost is $10 per person which
includes the post-twitch barbecue at Riversdale Rd. Note that relatives and
hangers-on will also pay $10 for the barbecue. Drinks will also be cheaper
this year as catering will be in-house. This is a great way to support bird
conservation in Vic. - this year funds will go to box-ironbark forest
programs -so if you like seeing birds like Painted and Regent Honeyeaters,
get into it; start seeking out sponsors and plan for your team's name to be
engraved on the coveted trophy now!

Oh yes, and contact Khalid for full details, including your team kit and
registration forms, to be returned by 15 Oct.

Happy Birding,
