I seem to recall a thread some time ago regarding range expansion in the
Crested Pigeon. Last night, while riding home along the Yarra Bike Path
about 2 km east of the junction of the Plenty and Yarra Rivers, I saw a
pair of Crested Pigeons feeding beside the path. I have not seen this
species in the area before. Of course, it is possible that they are aviary
escapees, but they may be pioneers in this area, as part of a range
expansion. This species brings my daily commuting bird list to 116
species.

Cheers

Ian
